11 - 25 - 11

Dear Ryder,

Mama has been slacking. We have been so busy!

Last week you went to the doctor's for the first time. It wasn't really an enjoyable experience for any of us. Daddy went with us and I think that the nurse was surprised at how involved daddy is with you. Most daddy's aren't like him. You are sure a lucky man to have such a great daddy! The doctor said that you are doing great! We will go back in a month and that will be a traumatic visit for you and me. Needles and screaming will be involved. Mama will probably be crying with you.

Mama was sick earlier this week and that was rough. Mama also made you sick. I made soup and forgot about the fact that you are breastfeeding, so I put tons of veggies in it, including lots of cabbage. It was an awful three days with a screaming baby. I felt so bad when I realized what I had done, but relieved when I had figured out what was wrong with you. I promised you to always think about what I am eating from that point on. It was a lesson learned.

Yesterday was your first Thanksgiving. You met some more new people over at our cousin Cari's house. Mama and daddy ate lots of good food while you were being held by lots of family that loves you. It has become a nice break for mama and dad when family is around. They want to soak you up and admire you, and who wouldn't? You're adorable! {Of course, mama is just a bit biased.}

Today you are a month old. On one hand it feels like you have been here longer and on another it feels like you just got here yesterday. Either way it's been the best month of mama's life. You have brought so much joy and excitement into my life. I am trying to soak up all of the new little things that you do with each week and your smallness. You won't be small for long, and I want to cherish everything. I love getting to know you and I can't wait to see more of your personality shine through with each week. I love you, little one. Always.

Sincerely,
Mama

11 - 9 - 11

Dear Ryder,

During your first week of life, you met a ton of people!

Great Grandma Cheryl came down to meet you from Colorado, as well as Great Uncle Shane. They both came to the hospital to meet you. GG bought you a ton of clothes and your favorite little bear, thus far. I know there is tons to come.

Grandma Cindy and Great Grandma Connie also came down to see you from Colorado for the weekend. You peed on your grandma and it was really funny. Grandma Cindy bought you a ton of diapers and brought down a lot of daddy's books from when he was little. Last night he read you your first book, which was his favorite book while growing up, Fox in Socks. Grandma Cindy and Great Grandma Connie also finished a quilt for you that your Great Great Grandma Rose started. It's such an awesome gift and I probably love it more than anyone else.

Great Grammy came down from New Hampshire to meet you. She was at the hospital when you were born and she just loves you to pieces.

Everyone says that they just want to stick you in their luggage and take you home.

The whole family loves you so much and I hope that you will love them all as well.

11 - 8 - 11

Dear baby boy,

You're finally here! This last week and half of your life has been the best of my life. Your beyond amazing and I am so thankful to have you here.

We both had a rough time with your birth, but once we were both healthy and the drama was all over with, the magic began. {your mama's kind of cheesy. don't hold it against her :]}

Your daddy and I both love you pieces. It's hard to describe such a love, but it definitely gets stronger with each passing day.

I am trying to soak up all of your tiny baby-ness, because I know it doesn't last long. Even in the last week, you have changed and grown. While I look forward to seeing you grow and mature into your own little person, I definitely want to remember everything about how tiny you are and how you smell and how you make tons of tiny baby noises.

Both of us think that you are the cutest thing in the whole world. Every parents says that, but seriously, you are. Everyone at the hospital always commented on how cute you are, and, of course, all of the family thinks you are just perfect.

I can't believe that just a week and half ago, you were still in my belly just waiting to come out. You grew out of two little cells into this beautiful boy and that's just mind blowing.

We couldn't have asked for a better baby. We love you tons and tons. Please grow up to be big and strong, but don't grow up too fast. Mama loves this baby stage a ton.

Love you always,
Mama
